The Iron Rose is one of Rollin’s least known and rarest films, and tells the story of two young lovers who stumble into a Gothic cemetery for some very heavy petting. Nudity, whippings, lesbo sex and a happy ending - this one’s got the lot! Jean Rollin’s The Demoniacs is a surreal pirate film which takes place on land for the sake of cheapness. A band of brutal shipwreckers rape and murder two young girls, only to find them re-emerging as spectres after having made a pact with the devil. | Lips
of Blood (1975)
is one of Rollin’s most successful movies. Surreal, atmospheric and
well-acted, the film tells of long-haired Philippe, haunted by the memories
of a mysterious woman he met in the ruins of a castle as a child. He asks
his mother about the experience, only to be accused of insanity. Seeing
scantily clad vampire women where-ever he goes, he begins to believe he
may going mad, until a blind man gives him a copy of postcard with the very
castle on it he remembers from his childhood. As Philippe continues to search
for clues, he unwittingly releases several female vampires from their tombs.
The vampires, clothed only in sheer veils, soon begin stalking the streets
of Paris and claiming victims. That’ll scupper their Olympics bid! |
Shiver
Of The Vampires was made in 1970 and
originally shown in Soho sex cinemas as Sex And The Vampire. In this typically
dreamlike tale, a young couple are silly enough to choose Transylvania as
a honeymoon location, and then compound their foolishness by checking in
at a vampire’s castle for the night. This is the third of Rollin’s
sexy vampire movies (after Rape Of The Vampire and The Nude Vampire) and
as usual with Rollin, it’s strong on erotic imagery, the most famous
scene involving a sexy vamp appearing from inside a grandfather clock -
which makes about as much sense as anything else in the movie. Shiver is
presented here uncut in a top quality digital transfer, all the better to
appreciate the frequently nude vampire babes! Apart from brilliant new transfers of these two classic vampire films, this amazing disc also contains an extensive photo gallery and some eye-popping ‘hidden’ extras! |

She operates out of a clinic where vampire girls suck blood through plastic tubes from king-sized jars! Reader, Just to clarify a few points regarding our DVD of Requiem For A Vampire and Fascination. The latter movie is presented totally uncut and for the first time in anamorphioc widescreen. Requiem, however, is missing a short bondage sequence that was removed by the BBFC. If we had 'taken a chance' and issued the uncut version then it could have backfired on us and we would have had to withdraw all discs from sale, risking a prosecution and a fine in theprocess. However, our print of Requiem is a superb anamorphic transfer, better than any previous versions, and our disc also contains well over an hour and a half of extra material, some of which is exempt from classification because it is documentary in nature - so you'll find stuff in there which you're unlikely to see in this country! There are also someintriguing easter eggs that will give you a kick! We're very pleased with the look of it and the content, and as a long-time DVD fan I love what we've done with all the different moving menus!
